After class was over Sunday, there was discussion regarding women teachers and Marge Caldwell's name was mentioned. Throughout her life, she had no hesitation to pass the baton of faith on to anyone who wanted to carry it forward in Jesus’ name.
Marge Caldwell
Her laughter rang with contagious joy, “Oh my soul! Can you believe it?” She was always so excited about it all. Can you say her name without smiling? Each Christian is here to exhibit God’s qualities; Marge’s were, among many others, beauty and grace. Marge left an invaluable, unique legacy that transcends generations.
Marge’s books, mostly written for young ladies, are no longer in print, but some are available used from Amazon. Beth Moore mentions Marge Caldwell in a video Bible study (The Patriarchs) . Beth Moore calls Marge Caldwell her “mentor.” Others have called her an encourager, a Baptist Erma Bombeck, and spiritual mother.
Marge was a professional charm and modeling teacher, and helped lead the way for teaching women Bible study at Houston First Baptist Church. `The Radiant You', 'Capsules for Confidence', `Speak out with Marge', `Dear God' were books she authored, along with 2 CD's, `Mountains and Valleys' and '66 Years of Marriage'. A speaker at numerous events on various topics, and at over 500 college and high school campuses. A member, Board of trustees, Houston Baptist University. Worked with young people on drug addiction and related problems. Led marriage seminars with husband, Chuck, on `Secret of a Happy Marriage'. Jesus authored quite a love story through the Caldwells.
Countless hours could be spent talking about how Chuck and Marge’s marriage of 68 years has deeply changed the way we live out our own relationships. As a married couple, they put Christ first, and it is obvious that they never ran out of love for each other in the mean time.
A marriage counselor and a counseling staff member at Houston's First Baptist Church. The Women of the Year, Houston Baptist University, 1970 and 1990. Taught college students in Sunday school at Houston's First Baptist Church for 30 years. A guest speaker on Focus on the Family with james Dobson. Hosted a 30 minute radio show on KXYZ for eight years each Sunday evening in Houston, Texas. Recipient, National Freedom Foundation Award for Individual Achievement, 1989-1990. Former speaker- Concerned Women of America. Received an Honorary Doctorate from the Houston Baptist University in 1997.
Marge said that she couldn’t stand it when older people wanted to live solely on the past and on its memories. Life—full life was in her to the very end. In fact, Marge started counseling at the HFBC Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling Center when she was 70 years old. Prior to the center’s opening, Brother John Bisagno would frequently find her counseling in a small room off of the Green Room. When it was decided to start a church counseling center, Brother John said he wanted Marge to be a part of it. Marge even went to audit classes at the university level to further her education in preparation for the new center, which began in 1983 with Dr. Charles Poor and Marge Caldwell. Additionally, in 2004, Marge and Chuck were delighted as The Gay Caldwell Roper Center for Counselor Education of HFBC was founded in Marge’s honor. What a blockbuster lesson taught by Our Chris Martin on Mother's Day! He
taught us to come out of our "holy huddles" to reach the people we
need to meet to share our Jesus, to ask Jesus to give us hearts for the
lost, not just our family, friends, co-workers. . . but a state of lost
souls, a nation of unredeemed souls. The last sentence of the lesson
was about walking a genuine walk with Jesus. His love "requires us to
love people of whom we do not approve." Some great lessons in obedience,

Yahweh-Shalom
The LORD Is Peace
The Lord greeted Gideon in peace, so he built an altar and named it "The
LORD is Peace" (see Judges 6:23-24). You have probably heard the
blessing "Shalom" from Jewish friends and acquaintances. It means peace.
More importantly, it means the Lord, our peace. Where does the Shepherd
lead His sheep? Beside the peaceful, still waters. "He leads me beside
the still waters; He makes me lie down in green pastures" (Psalm 23:2).
When your heart is content, you are at peace. And where does that
contentment come from? The grace of God. There's no man more discontent
than one who is not experiencing the amazing grace of God. Only in
Jesus, will you find security, sufficiency, and serenity.
