Sunday's lesson from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 was taught by our fellow Biblical Foundations class member Dr. Bruce Fong. His lesson provided the inspiration for this month's class scripture memory verse.
In the lesson, Bruce gave the class some thoughtful insights into the scripture and challenged us to provide some applications in our own life experiences as we have been commanded by our Creator to have a joyful attitude regardless of circumstance. The
Christmas Store is a ministry of Houston's First Baptist Church's Faith
Center-Spring Branch.
Each year, families from mission churches we
support, and other organizations are invited to come and "shop" for
gifts for their family members. While at The Christmas Store, they also
learn
about the true gift of Christmas — Jesus Christ. The families who are
invited to The Christmas Store get to “shop” on a designated day in
early December set aside for people from their respective groups. This
format creates a greater sense of community as families see familiar
faces and it enables our volunteers to have more one-on-one time with
the people we serve. As always, this amazing ministry relies on the
Houston’s First family to provide the thousands of gifts needed to fully
stock our shelves. So bring a new, unwrapped gift on Collection Day for
The Christmas Store!
