 A Study on Exodus 20:12
Summary of the lesson:
This past Sunday, our Foundations class enjoyed an interactive discussion centered on Exodus 20:12—"Honor your father and your mother." Each table explored different aspects, including the meaning of honor, its role in a stable society, practical ways to honor parents through life’s various stages, dealing with difficult family relationships, and understanding the unique promise tied to this commandment. Participants shared meaningful insights, highlighting forgiveness, gratitude, compassion, and the importance of leaving a godly legacy. The lesson encouraged everyone to intentionally bless someone this week—whether a parent, mentor, or spiritual parent—as a practical application of honoring God by honoring others.

You are invited to join us, either in person @ HFBC's Rehearsal Hall on the 2nd Floor over the Foyer or via Live Stream (details below):

"Two Words, One Powerful Command: Valuing Life "
A Study on Exodus 20:13 Sam & Noel Gray Teaching.

Join us this Sunday as Sam and Noel Gray guide us through an insightful lesson titled "Life Is Sacred," based on the sixth commandment from Exodus 20:13: "You shall not murder." Interestingly, the original Hebrew captures this profound commandment in just two words, highlighting God's clear and concise message about the sacredness of life. We'll explore the deeper meaning behind this directive—understanding that it’s more than just a prohibition; it’s God's foundational call for respect, dignity, and honoring the life He created. Together, let's discover how embracing this principle helps us live freely, aligned with God's heart for humanity. Don’t miss it!

Jeff Pennington taught lesson 2 of a multi part lesson series:

This lesson on the Second Commandment (Exodus 20:4-6) explores idolatry, highlighting how quickly the Israelites broke this law with the golden calf. It distinguishes idolatry from artistic representation and warns of modern idols like wealth, power, and culture. God’s jealousy reflects His zealous love, desiring exclusive worship. Christ is the true image of God (Col. 1:15), and believers must guard against worldly influences in worship and daily life.
