The lesson may end at noon… but the conversation doesn’t have to.
This Sunday, March 1, we’re heading to Los Tios Mexican Restaurant – San Felipe for our After Class Lunch. Great food. Warm chips. Even warmer fellowship. Whether you’re new to Foundations Class or have been with us for years, this is one of the best ways to connect, laugh, and deepen friendships beyond Sunday morning.

Commitment Sunday:
One Class. One Heart. One Mission.
March 1, 2026 is more than a date — it’s a declaration.
On Commitment Sunday, our Foundations Class will join together in faith as part of Houston’s First Baptist Church’s Kingdom Come initiative. This is a moment to prayerfully respond and step forward together in unity.
Action Step #1: Bring Your Commitment.
Come prepared with your commitment card as an act of worship and trust in what God will do through His people.
Action
Step #2: Wear Your Shirt.
Let’s turn the room blue! Wear your “Kingdom Come” T-shirt as a visible reminder that we stand together — one class, one heart, one mission.
This Sunday is about more than a pledge. It’s about alignment. It’s about legacy. It’s about advancing God’s Kingdom together with courage and joy.
Let’s fill the room with faith.
When God Writes the Story
Charlotte Duncan’s Testimony – A Front Row Seat to His Faithfulness
This Sunday, Charlotte Duncan will lead our lesson time — not with theory, but with testimony.
In a powerful account of God’s unmistakable hand at work, Charlotte shares the story of a young family who longed for a child. After years of waiting, their baby arrived on June 14 — just days after another placement was needed. What seemed like timing and logistics quickly revealed something much deeper: divine orchestration .
When financial barriers stood in the way of adoption, a phone call came. Every expense — covered. Completely. No fundraising campaign. No desperate scrambling. Just provision.
And then came the moment that says it all.
The new mother shared, “This is the first Father’s Day in five years my husband is not going to be sad.”
Charlotte describes sitting between them on the couch as the father prayed over his baby — a prayer that this child would love Jesus, be surrounded by angels, and be raised in faith . It was not coincidence. It was not luck. It was God’s hand.
This Sunday will not simply be a testimony about adoption. It will be a reminder that:
God’s timing is precise.
God’s provision is complete.
God’s purposes are personal.
Come ready to be encouraged. Come ready to see how prayer matters. And come ready to praise the God whose hands are still “all over” the details of our lives .
You won’t want to miss this one.

Apples of Gold:
A Song That Captures Our Mission
Our new Foundations Class theme, “Apples of Gold,” is inspired by Proverbs 25:11 — “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”
This song beautifully expresses who we are. The apples of gold represent the life-giving truth of Scripture. The settings of silver reflect the strong fellowship and structure that hold that truth high in our class.
In a busy, noisy Houston week, Foundations remains our staging ground of grace—anchored in Christ, grounded in doctrine, and committed to reaching every Houston face.
It’s more than music.
It’s our mission set to melody.

The Level Up Leadership Conference on January 30 was a meaningful evening of insight, encouragement, and challenge. A strong number from our Foundations Class attended, participating in a variety of workshops that offered practical ideas and fresh perspective for ministry.
On Saturday, February 28, from 9:00–11:00 AM, Karen and Butch are hosting a follow-up gathering at our home to review key lessons learned and discuss how we can implement best practices in the year ahead.
For those who attended, we would love to hear your insights and takeaways from the different workshops. And for those who were unable to attend, this will be a great opportunity to share what was learned and consider together how it can strengthen our class.
This will be an informal, collaborative time to reflect, refine, and re-energize our shared mission. Let’s prayerfully consider how we can continue building a class that honors Christ and serves with purpose in the year ahead. Let us know if you can attend, call or text: 281-460-5756.

The Sovereignty of God in the
Seasons of Life
Richard & Trish Battle | Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
“For everything there is a season…”
We know the words.
But do we truly trust the One who sets the seasons?
This Sunday, Richard and Trish Battle will lead us into one of the most familiar — and most life-shaping — passages in Ecclesiastes. After confronting the emptiness of striving in chapter 2, we now discover the steady anchor of chapter 3: God is sovereign over every season of life.
A time to build.
A time to release.
A time to rejoice.
A time to grieve.
None of it is random. None of it is wasted.
For a class that has walked through many chapters — raising families, building careers, navigating transitions — this lesson speaks directly to where we are now.
If you’ve ever asked,
“Why this season?”
“Why now?”
“Where is God in this chapter?”
You won’t want to miss this Sunday.
Come discover the peace that comes from knowing every season is appointed — and every moment is under His hand.
Building Connection Beyond Sunday Mornings
Eyes on Eternity
This week’s opening class devotional focus on Chapter 4 ofThe Treasure Principle
Chapter 4: Eyes on Eternity invites us to consider the relationship between our treasure and our heart. In this chapter, Randy Alcorn reminds us that our hearts do not lead our giving — they follow it. When we invest in God’s Kingdom, our affections naturally move in that direction.
Through the powerful contrast of King Tut and missionary William Borden, we are challenged to ask: Are we leaving our treasure behind, or sending it ahead? One accumulated wealth he could not keep. The other invested in what he could never lose.
Drawing from Jesus’ teaching in Gospel of Matthew 6:21, this chapter calls us to fix our eyes on eternity: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” When we store up treasure in Heaven, death is no longer loss — it becomes gain.
Come prepared to share one insight that helped you lift your eyes beyond the temporary and toward the eternal.

This Sunday, Carol Pierce will guide us through one of the most honest and sobering reflections in Ecclesiastes. Solomon, at the height of power and accomplishment, confronts a startling truth: the wise and the fool share the same fate, achievements are eventually forgotten, and everything we build must one day be handed to another.
Yet this passage does not leave us in despair.
In the middle of Solomon’s frustration comes a quiet but powerful shift—true enjoyment, wisdom, and lasting joy are found not in accomplishment, but in the hand of God. Apart from Him, even success feels empty. With Him, even ordinary work becomes a gift.
For those of us who have lived long enough to build careers, raise families, and leave legacies, this lesson speaks directly to our season of life. What truly lasts? What really matters? Where is joy found now?
Come prepared to reflect, to think deeply, and to discover how God transforms toil into meaning and accomplishment into contentment.

Finding Purpose in Our Season of Life
Rand Wall will lead us through Ecclesiastes 1:12–2:11 in a lesson titled
“The Great Experiment in Pleasure,” exploring Solomon’s honest search for meaning.
This study invites us to reflect on our own achievements as we listen closely for God’s enduring answers in this season of life.
The Peace of Seeing the Full Landscape
An Overview of Ecclesiastes
This past Sunday, Bill Wright helped our class step back and take in the full landscape of Ecclesiastes—a book that speaks honestly to the questions many believers quietly carry. Rather than rushing us toward quick answers, Bill reminded us that Ecclesiastes gives voice to the realities of life as it is lived “under the sun,” where effort, success, pleasure, and wisdom can still feel incomplete when separated from God.
Bill framed Ecclesiastes as a gracious gift, especially for a season of life rich with experience. The book does not dismiss faith; instead, it deepens it by acknowledging the tension between what we hope life will deliver and what it often does. In doing so, Ecclesiastes normalizes questions about purpose, fairness, and meaning—not as signs of weak faith, but as invitations to deeper trust.
In a gift of timing, this overview came after we had already begun exploring the opening themes of the book. Seeing the whole structure allowed those early passages to settle more firmly into place, revealing how Solomon’s search ultimately points us beyond temporary satisfaction toward reverence, humility, and a God-centered life.
Bill reminded us that at the heart of Ecclesiastes is a simple but profound truth: God has placed eternity in our hearts. When life’s pursuits fall short, they are not failures—they are signposts, gently redirecting us to what truly lasts.
Reshaping Our Perspective Through Kingdom Math
Pastor’s message, “Kingdom Come: God’s Math,” calls us to view our lives through a lens of surrender rather than accumulation.
This perspective transforms how we measure gain and loss as we seek to align our hearts with God’s Kingdom.
Multiplying Joy Through Stewardship
